A lullaby is a song we sing to our children- spanning generations, songs of comfort, reassurance. This album represents a collective catharsis: a response to lullabies of a distant childhood - the innocence of recent past - through the musical language of seven mothers. These inspired "lullabies" reach out not only as musical gifts to our children (each with our own very personal and intimate perspective) but to soothe, and at times validate, the nurturers of our present and future world. Among the most notable and iconic voices of today, Norah Jones and Pete Remm, Jessica Rose Weiss, Dika Chartoff, Martha Redbone, Anne Drummond, and Priya Darshini, and Tasha Warren each paint an intimate, powerful, and timeless musical landscape portraying their own personal journey of motherhood - transporting the listener through seemingly infinite colors and worlds of sound with the pairing of cello and bass clarinet/clarinet (Dave Eggar and Tasha Warren). Brought to life through these two versatile and poetically melodic instrumental voices, the cello and bass clarinet, the lullaby as we know it is transformed and transfixing. Special thanks to Ms. Kuniko Washio and William Scollard, as well as to the following donors: Mary Beth and David Alexander, Lynn Bernard, Alex Blakemore, Carol Butler, Robert and Virgil Chan, Bob Cundall, Vic Dhooge, Brian Feit, Susan Jacobs, Elise Jacques, Rich McNally and Kelly Lizotte, The Rains Family, Lou and Jil Valerio, and John Wohlstetter.
