Feathers!
GABI
Release Date: April 2, 2027
Feathers! – the third studio album from composer/vocalist GABI is about finding hope in unexpected places. A celebration of the dark complexities of life’s beautiful moments – there’s always something worth fighting for, and something to look forward to, even if we don’t know what it is yet.
This album has been a long process over the course of years in a long-distance pandemic collaboration between Herbst and producer/composer Sebastian Gainsborough. Through changing emotional states the record grew as a space of solace and friendship, building in recordings and developments over time.
This is a deeply collaborative album – improvisational contributions on bass clarinet, harp, violin, cello, mandolin and guitar weave through the record.
Songs written and sung by Gabrielle Herbst with production/co-writing by Sebastian Gainsborough and mastered by Heba Kadry.
Compositional contributions on harp parts by Marilu Donovan, bass clarinet parts by Mara Mayer, violin parts by Rakhi Singh and Josh Henderson, mandolin and electric guitar by Eli Greenhoe and cello by Otávio Manzano Kavakama.
Feathers! feels like listening to sketches inside a notebook — the dreams, the emptiness, the loss and a celebration of friendship.
